How to Clean the Shirt
When you are rinsing the shirts out, you do not need gloves; the dye is reactive only with the fabric and will not stain your hands nor your washing machine. If dye gets on the counter top, it will come off with a little bleach.
Leave your item in the bag, undisturbed for approximately 24 hours.
Rinse the item using cold-ish water until the water runs clear-ish. Dark colors and reds take extra time to rinse. Summer time suggestion: Rinse the shirt outside using the hose.Â
Put the item(s) in the washing machine on a normal rinse cycle but on cold; add soap as usual. The solubility of the dye increases with hot water; if your water is too hot, your dye may fade. If there are other tie dye items, you can wash all items together. Do not wash other clothes with the newly tie dyed items until a complete laundry/washing machine cycle as taken place.
After the shirts have been through the laundry cycle once, the shirts will not transfer dye and ready to wear!
Dry item in dryer or hang to dry.
